Vibrant Hilltowns Need Vibrant Schools
Schools are the economic, social, and cultural lifeblood of our communities. The Mohawk and Hawlemont School Committees' plan to shut our four elementary schools forecloses on all of our futures. But the decision is not theirs. It is ours, and will be decided in an eight-town vote in 2027. Our Schools, Our Towns is here to fight for the schools our towns need and deserve.
What happened when Cummington closed its school? Watch below to find out.
The Hilltowns have been home to schools since the mid-1760s. Through wars and economic depressions, good times and bad, we have been schooling our children since before the US existed. Are we going to be the first generation to give up on our schools and communities?
TAKE ACTION!
Sing the letter below to urge our School Committee representatives to repeal their decision to defund our schools, and then show up at the next School Committee meeting on June 10, 6PM, Mohawk high school. Sign up to speak during the public comment period by emailing Patricia Donohue at pdonohue@mtrsd.org
